Vacation time is upon us. Children have been liberated from school and families look forward to a chance to get away from their regular routine. Vacations are important times for rest and renewal; they can also be great opportunities for us to experience God. Most vacation destinations offer attractions that are not only interesting but spiritually enriching as well. I urge all parents to try and plan an excursion that will help their family learn more about their faith.
Though you are away from your regular routine, this is not the time to take a vacation from the celebration of the Eucharist. Our celebration of the Eucharist each week is our opportunity to experience Christ with us in the flesh. Christ’s body and blood nourishes us and prepares us to do His work in the world. Just as our bodies weaken if we fast too long from food, so too, our spirits weaken if we fast too long from Christ.
Wherever you may be, I urge you to take the time to find the local Catholic Church. The following website lists the location of Churches and their Mass times all over the United States. Please visit www.parishesonline.com.
\Have a very safe and blessed summer. |
